Hi Beautiful One,
It's been a while since I have had something to say. These letters have always been a point of anxiety because I want to provide something new to the world, something grand. I have always viewed my dreams as a distant far off vision, completely unattainable, but still vivid enough for me to imagine what life could be. Have you ever done that? Have you ever lived most of your life wondering if that smoldering ember inside of you could become a raging fire? Have you ever taken the smallest of steps to blow on the ember just to see what might happen?
You may not know this, but I want to be the best storyteller who has ever lived. It's not enough to be the actor, writer, director, but I want to go down in history as the greatest. All I think about is performing. All I can ever think about most days is the art of storytelling so much that I dissociate from the reality I am in. It's dangerous to be a dreamer. It's dangerous to see the destination, but not the road. In thinking all of this, I thought to myself, what if I could see the destination. Touch it. Smell it. Hear it. Would that make it more real? Would that give me the tangible resource I need to understand that it's not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
No matter what I have said, I have always had doubt about being able to achieve the destinations and inclination of my dreams...until now. Instead of dreaming, wishing, hoping, then losing hope I decided to invest in the dream. I finally made it to California. I walked down the Hollywood Walk of Fame and, to my surprise, I found something I didn't expect: empty stars.
I couldn't believe my eyes. There I was, walking around the place I have envisioned years of my life to be met with the strangest concept: there's a place for my name, my art, my gifts...and it's just waiting on me. In that moment I heard God say, "You have always had a place here among the stars, it's just been waiting on you to take it."
Our dreams, the ones that we fall in and out of love with because of circumstance, are so much closer than we think. We get consumed by life and reality dares us not to pursue what we were made for when it is our responsibility to fan the flames of our passion to become the very thing we were meant to be. Your place calls to you because it's meant for you, that's why you can't let it go and that's why you shouldn't. So go out there and #getyoursz
I love you,
G.E.M. Stone
