Are You Ready to Give Up?

Hi, Beautiful One,

It is always darkest before the dawn. The thought that things get progressively harder before they get better is scary. Face it. It is discouraging to think that life will get more complicated on your way to making it better. Who would want to face the unknown? When all we want is an stress-free life. Why would anyone agree to more hardships when their plate is full of them? One word: FREEDOM. It is the gift of free will that we find ourselves staring out of windows during our lunch breaks wondering if we’ll ever experience life.

If freedom is the driving force, why do we give in? The saying, “You don’t work, you don’t eat,” comes to mind. Responsibility doesn’t trump your desires for a life. In other words, perform your duties and work towards the dream. Here’s where the discomfort comes in. To break out of the 9 to 5 life, you must work a 5 to 9 right after. If we want to change our mindset, we must introduce our minds to something new. It is the introduction of the uncomfortable to our system.

The testing grounds of life contain uncomfortable battles against ourselves. Many will fall before the war. It’s a daunting task facing yourself. When you do, you wonder if it’s worth it. You have to ask yourself if you’re ready to give up. The difference between those who break free and those who stay in their chains is what happens when you ask if you’re set to give up. When nothing seems to go your way and you’re ready to throw in the towel, here’s what you can do.

Make a Decision Not a Choice

There’s a difference between them. A choice presents your goal as an option. A decision means there’s no other option. Live through this moment as if your dream is the only thing that exists. There can’t be a way out if you don’t make one. It is your dream, goal, and vision. They deserve respect.

Stay on Task

You have built a foundation and a strong discipline. Instead of focusing on what it isn’t bringing you, focus on how it has changed you. You are more consistent than you have ever been. There’s a system in place that keeps you honest and humble. More will come because you continue to follow the path.

Reach out to Your Community

“Rome wasn’t built in a day” may be true but it’s also true that Rome wasn’t built by one person either. Surround yourself with a community of like-minded and higher-minded people who can encourage AND correct you. Don’t isolate too far into yourself. The right people will always be available to set you straight when your mind is in a bunch.

The wall you have hit may seem familiar. It is because it’s the wall that makes you turn around and give up every time. What happens when you take that wall head-on? A breakthrough isn’t a breakthrough until you break through. You haven’t lost momentum. You haven’t wasted your time. You’re exactly where you need to be to become who you are. Lock in and keep going.
